Dan was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and his first real job was selling peanuts for the Cleveland Indians at age 13. Dan has made California his home since high school. After earning a BS in public administration, magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California, Class of 1979, he then spent two very successful decades managing finances and personnel with several large national enterprises.
Desiring to answer the personal calling to deliver financial guidance based on a relationship business model, Dan chose to launch his second career in 1998. Dan holds various FINRA securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network® (Commonwealth) for the practice of investment guidance and holds the California state insurance licenses for life, health, and annuities. Licenses for insurance include multiple states where appropriate. He is an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) with Commonwealth. Dan also continues to advance his knowledge and credentials, earning the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® (CRPC®) designation from the College for Financial Planning.
Dan contributes time and expertise to many community activities. He serves on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County and serves as a Trustee on the Board of Sierra Repertory Theatre. He is also currently a director on the Board of TuCARE, whose mission is to enlighten and advise the public about conservation and the wise use of our natural resources. He previously held positions as a board member for 10 years with United Way of Stanislaus and the Mother Lode and was an eight-year board member of the Black Hat Foundation.
In Dan's spare time, when not consumed with the study of history, he enjoys kayaking and mountain trekking. He is particularly fond of his classic show car, a restored 1968 Plymouth Hemi Road Runner. He lives on his small ranch near Sonora with his wife (and high school sweetheart!), Sarah Wells. Sarah is the special woman behind the man: an accomplished outdoorswoman, business owner, and provocateur.
By the way, Dan has a great sense of humor, though Sarah would disagree! They spend every extra moment with their mutts Atticus and Mariposa Lily in their beloved Sierra Nevada mountains.
